Remember these guys? They had a tv show back in the day, then did absolutely nothing since then. Sure, there was a fever dream in which people thought there was a movie or something, but that never happened.
I’m glad they’re back, this renewed series is on Amazon is well worth the wait, they’re still at the top of their mid tier abilities. They’ve gone off and done solo projects that have been pretty good, but having them back together feels like a blessing. That blessing is doubled because they’re on a network that doesn’t care about full frontal nudity, cursing, or corporate backslapping.
It’s worth your time, check it out!
” I am crushing your head! Crushing your head!”
These guys prepared the stage that then was The State that started on MTV back when MTV was edgy, that then gave rise to Reno 911, that then gave rise to Broken Lizard.
Kids in the Hall was a staple of Comedy Central, back when it would actually show sketch and stage stand up.
I’m pretty sure that Broken Lizard came first, at least Super Troopers can before the TV show.
Nah, Kids in the Hall were on Comedy Central while I was in jr high and highschool. The State was while I was in HS, and burnt out quickly having been bought by NBC. Broken Lizard formed the year I graduated.
Ah, I see what you’re saying now, yeah, the guys from The State were involved in Reno 911.
You graduated in 1989?
’96
That’s 7 years after bl formed
I quickly looked at Wikipedia… in the synopsis, it lists ’96, but then I see in the 2nd paragraph it lists that they started in ’89 in college. If you can’t trust Wikipedia for accurate information, who can you trust?
1996 is when their first movie came out, Puddle Cruiser www.myconfinedspace.com/2021/10/21/puddle-cruiser/ which was a fun movie iirc
A friend of mine who was a CBC junkie got me tickets to see this new comedy show being taped in Toronto…way back early 90s.
It was show number 3 and 4…..hadn’t even aired yet.
Been a fan ever since.
