I’m reminded of an interview a few years ago between a sports journalist and Rachel Heyhoe-Flint, the captain of the England women’s cricket team. They were comparing the difference between the men’s game and the women’s, and the reported said that at least they didn’t have to wear a “box” (a tough plastic shield to cover a chap’s genitals). She said that something similar had actually been developed, although of a different shape. When asked what is was called, she said it was referred to as a man-hole cover.
