You all know the solution is simple – vote these people out of office. And yet the prospect of republicans winning control of both houses in the midterms is sadly a realistic prospect. I do like America, and have high hopes and expectations of the role it could play on the world stage if it ever threw off the malign influence of the GOP – but half your electorate are resolutely incapable of rational thinking. I despair.

It’s worse than that, of course. I mean, some portion of Democratic voters are similarly incapable of rational thought… they just happen to vote democratic. So, it’s likely well past 50%. In any case, yeah, I’m right there with you on the whole despair thing.
I don’t think it even breaks 20% total, at least if we’re talking about people that are registered to vote. we struggle to get even 50% of eligible voters to the polls in the US
