Wonderful but it will be an itch in the back of my brain for the rest of my life knowing that we decided to abandon the notion of noon being the middle of the day. There is no more high-noon nor accompanying duels. DST is new, trash it, don’t make it permanent.
I feel the same way, but leave it to the US to throw science to the wind for cheap political points.
even when they get it right, it’s done wrong.
There are people alive today who are old enough to remember the last time we did exactly this thing, and we hated it, and reverted to the time change thing again, the following year. BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO WAIT UNTIL 9 AM FOR THE SUN TO RISE.
People have lots of feelings about this one way or the other, I kind of don’t care whether we pick either daylight savings time or standard time as long as which ever one we pick we stick with it. I hate changing the time twice a year. That’s the part that irks me. And if this passes I’ll be annoyed if we go back to it again in a year or two. Days get shorter and longer as the Earth tilts, it’s a thing. We did fine as a species for a very long time without changing what time it was just for the hell of it. Let’s stop.
