While not denying that the invading Japanese slaughtered vast number of Chinese in hideous ways, there’s one incident almost forgotten about now. To slow down the Japs who were advancing up the course of the Yellow River in 1938, Chiang Kai Shek opened the flood control gates and flooded the region. Maybe half a million Chinese died (figures are very difficult to calculate) and untold millions uprooted and homeless. I would not have like to have been Chiang Kai Shek when he made that decision.
