Here we are, two months after release and it’s finally on Disney plus! Was the movie worth the wait?
Nope! I have no clue how they took lovable actors like Simu Liu and Awkwafina and turned them into petty man-babies, but that’s what we get! Doesn’t help that nearly half the movie is in a language I don’t speak, so had to spend that entire time reading the story instead of being caught up in the story. The only saving grace that I can find in this film is that they (sorta) fix the massive injustice that The Mandarin received in Iron Man 3, but then go out of their way to make it clear that the character we all love to hate from the Iron Man comics is never actually going to be seen and all we’re going to get is some immortal (sorta) thug that doesn’t do much of anything with his immortality. The worst part of the entire film was how exceptionally poorly lit the entire thing is lit. It’s obvious that nearly every scene that’s outside takes place on a sound stage with omni-present lighting coming from every direction as max volume, no matter where they are or what they’re doing.
There are a few great things in the movie though, and honestly they made up for the previously mentioned complaints, but they’re SPOILERS:
1 – Trevor is a national treasure, I hope we see more of him, and hopefully with his little buddy.
2 – The final fight with Shang and the black dragon were awe inspiring, if a bit weird with his doing air dancing for a full 30 seconds before he was able to defeat the dragon and I think a big part of that was the music.
3 – Master Wong, yes please.
