    The character is unrealistic. Farmers from Iowa tend to NOT move to NYC equivalents. They also tend not to work for big city newspapers. Iowa hicks think all big city newspapers are owned by Jews and are therefore untrustworthy (for some reason). We’re not talking people who get out of their isolated bubbles to get exposed to new information.

    first, he wasn’t a farmer , he was adopted by farmers. B. the rural kid moving to the city IS the story that repeats itself constantly in fiction and in life and fourthly he came from another planet , how much more out of your bubble can you get?? lol
