At least there seems to be a reason for it. Apparently the original show exists in this TV universe and she’s called Doogie as a reference to the show. And if they did the same premise, but didn’t put the Doogie thing in there, people would just say it’s a rip off with a female character. At least it’s not another CSI, 911, or Law & Order spinoff.
