Unfortunately in the Trump era it’s extremely risky to use satire since your adoption of an extreme stance to hold it up to ridicule and illustrate its absurdity pales into insignificance when compared to the actual extreme stances fervently and fully and devoutly believed in by the average Trump acolyte. Truly, Trump has destroyed satire (as someone once said of Kissinger’s Nobel Peace prize – they had no idea what was coming in 40 years).
