One of the many many many Captain Marvel reboots, relaunches or reimaginings, this mini series takes place on a space station that is shaped like Captain Marvel’s logo, which was based off the Kree Empire’s military uniforms. In the first storyline of the series, a group of aliens come looking for Kree forces to fight, see the logo, and start lobbing missiles at the station. There’s some hilarious hijinx that ensue, the book gets off on the right foot, but is then immediately sucked into the universe wide cross over of “Civil War 2” which centers around an Inhuman that can see what’s going to happen in the future. Marvel feels this is great and they can get ahead of all the crazy stuff that’s constantly happening around the world, but Iron Man feels this is going to just trample people’s rights to not be prosecuted for crimes that they haven’t committed yet. There’s a ton of activity happening off page in the CW2 mini series (which I haven’t read) but for the most part the CM series itself stays out of the universe wide story and gets to tell it’s own involving a b-list villain doing b-level villainy.
The covers are amazing, the interior art is captivating, and the story is entertaining enough. I got the entire thing from a local comic shop’s $0.25 bin though if that tells you how the rest of the world feels about it.
