It was cheap enough ($30!) and I enjoyed it enough, I figured I’d be interested in the extra material on the physical release, and thus my decision was made: I purchased the steelbook version. The physical release itself is nice enough, though I’m not sure why there’s extra swooshes in the background, and the ship design is still stupid as all get out.
The contents of the disk are pretty good, the episodes themselves are there, and each episode has extra material that’s specific to just that one episode, and hidden in the menus behind the “play episode” link instead of being under the “special features” section that only disk 2 has. When I first put the disk in I was prepared to be let down by the two extras, but was happy to find them squirreled away behind the episodes. It’s obvious that the extras were all filmed during the height of the covid-19 pandemic with nearly all of them being webcam quality recordings and poorly done green screening. I’d think they could figure out how to record at proper 1080p and then just upload the videos, but what do I know.
It’s good, but since it’s a weird tv release and not a movie, you don’t get a code for the material for use on vudu or itunes, so I’ll end up ripping them to my jellyfin server eventually.
