This first book is not very good, but it lays the groundwork for a pretty good story, so I’m going to stick with it. There’s at minimum two different time periods in this story, at times with flashbacks within the flashbacks, so there’s entire chapters that are essentially dreams within dreams and don’t matter at all to the confusing main story that’s happening in the far future where humanity has given up on genitals and home worlds.
As I mentioned though, that main story is interesting enough that I’m going to hope the second book in the series follows that story and drops the flash back situation.
