Anti-trafficking experts are highly skeptical of these reports. “I have never heard a case of anyone being abducted from Target in my 20 years in this field,” says Jean Bruggeman, executive director of Freedom Network USA, a national network of anti-trafficking advocates.

EXACTLY. 99% of people who are raped/kidnapped KNOW THE PERPETRATOR. The person who starts a trafficked person’s rape career is also almost always someone they know. It’s an abuse of trust. Hardly anyone just gets nabbed off the street by a stranger (cue someone with a vested interest in the “stranger danger” myth linking several stories of just that happening as if they weren’t outliers).
I’m not saying this woman wasn’t in a Target and didn’t have dudes with empty shopping carts around her. I’m saying she probably misunderstood the situation. Perhaps intentionally, in a way to bump up her TikTok popularity. People have been known to lie for Likes on the soshmeedz.
Dudes probably had a set list of items to get and hadn’t found any.
