It’s been inefficient and losing money forever. I suppose Congress could just pump it full of newly printed stimulus dollars, but that just kicks the can down the road a short ways. Somebody has to fix it.
Every company would be if it had to pre-pay it’s retirement fund for all current employees (while no other government agency had to) other companies could raid its funds to pay for other things (social security). There has been a concentrated effort to kill the USPS for quite some time now. It’s something that should concern us all.
A lot of things funded (in part or in full) by taxes don’t make a profit but we still pay for them because they are a public good and worth the investment. I’d argue that being able to reliably and relatively cheaply provide postal service to every person in this country is important. UPS or FedEx or DSL aren’t going to deliver anything to some of the counties in extremely rural areas for the same cost that the USPS does today.
Fire departments don’t make money but we definitely should keep those around. Roads are a pure cost sink but getting anywhere in this country without them would be terrible since the oil and gas, and car lobbies have destroyed any efforts to get a decent countrywide rail system up and running. Hell, they actually bought up rail lines and had them destroyed. Schools are vital for the future of this country and don’t make a profit in terms of dollars either.

when all they have to do is change one amendment and the problem fixes itself , like riding a bike with no chain while complaining there’s too much air in the tires.
DeJoy should be removed. His conflict of interest should have prevented him from ever holding this position in the first place.
His conflict of interest is exactly why Donnie selected him in the first place.
The dude is trying to wreck a service specifically listed in the Constitution.

specifically by design. they’re not permitted to make a profit, so by definition they’re going to be “losing money”
