Betty Gilpin is an absolute treasure in this film and is honestly the only thing that keeps it from sinking into pure b-movie bullshit. It’s mostly just her acting abilities, but the role itself is written in a way that rejects the corny polemic storyline that’s going on in the background of her story of just wanting to have a smoke and go home.
I did enjoy the cornucopia scene, I think they deliberately make it initially feel like the Hunger Games, just to put you in the right frame of mind, along with a few guest star appearances that really tickled my fancy.
