So I remember not completely enjoying the film, so out of the gate I decided that 1 – I’d be 100% sure I was watching the 4k version, and that I’d turn on the commentary, which was enlightening to listen to. It’s obvious that the writers and producers that were on the commentary are passionate about the characters and want to make good movies, but some of what they said…. whew.
The first thing that made my eyebrows raise is one of them said that Peter’s parent’s story was always closely related to the “Rosenbergs” as part of peter’s origin story? I can find no other mention of this, and they didn’t seem to know that it was pretty well settled that Peter’s parents were agents of shield, back before the phrase was a huge deal in the tv world.
Jamie Fox as a dorky nerd just doesn’t work at all, he’s spent way too much time building a personal reputation for being a bad ass, it’s difficult to see him as a powerless man with no self determination. You’ve seen “Baby Driver”, right? He’s always been more of a Bats to me than an Electro.
Anyways, this movie fell flat for me, had way too many villains, and the worst I can say about it was that it reached too far, which isn’t the worst thing that can be said about a spider-man film.
