I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say… nope.
Cheer me up, but this is what I see:
Trump got 74 million votes after bumbling COVID to the tune of 200,000 American deaths.
On top of that, a whole lot of people voted D at the top of the ticket then voted R the whole rest of the way down.
That’s how Democrat’s lost seats in the House and likely won’t get control of the Senate, and how the GOP won every State race where control of redistricting was on the line.
From a Democratic point of view 2024 is likely not going to be pretty, 2022 has the potential to be fairly terrible, and the whole damn suck parade will likely start with the Dems losing both seats in the GA runoff election next month.
The Left want what they want NOW, no waiting, and even the slightest shifts in that direction are going to rain hell on Moderate Democrats in swing States, like they just did.
Considering the Political climate, enjoy the Biden term. Because if he’s not allowed to stay Center, even possibly Center Right, we probably won’t see another Democrat in the White House until at least 2032, the next Great White Hope for the Trumpers will probably be a whole lot less incompetent, and the GOP will probably control House and Senate for a good chunk of 2024 – 2032.
That’s my worst fear, really, a candidate as poisonous to Democracy as Trump without the litany of obvious flaws and incompetence. Trump, as obviously deficient as he is, came dangerously close to ending the grand experiment of American Democracy. In fact, he’s still trying, though I have to think the SCOTUS has a soul and he won’t succeed at this point.
We won’t be so lucky next time.
