There’s a huge time leap in the timeline from the previous movie with only the barest mention of the previous main Myers fighter played by Donald Pleasence, who died before the release of the previous film. This 20th anniversary movie introduces the world to Josh Harnett, with guest appearences by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michelle Williams, and LL Cool J. There’s a bunch of cheap scares to be had, and only a little bit of suspense, this is a classic 90’s action film with just a veneer of the series’ original suspenseful nature. That being said, this is the first movie where the female lead takes the fight back to Michael and gives him a serious hurting.
I’m interested in seeing if they address the ending in the next film or if this is it for this particular storyline.
Considering the absolute TANKING of the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, I don’t think studios wish to risk anything on classic horror franchises.
