I think we’re going to see theaters owned by Disney, Netflix, and Amazon instead of AMC, Regal, Cinemark. So if you want to see a Disney film you’ll have to go to a specific theater. This is going to suck. Say goodbye to independent films and theaters too. The big chains won’t show independent movies and independent theaters won’t get the big hit releases. How long can smaller independent movies and theaters survive with only each other? Doesn’t look good.
It’s strange. It’s become easier and easier to make a movie, but probably harder to get a fair distribution deal when you actually have the finished product. Maybe sell direct download codes? Will we maybe see something like bandcamp but for independent movies?
