I know he doesn’t care, but this is going to be fucking hilarious when removal of the USPS leads to voters in mostly rural areas not being able to have things delivered to them, or more importantly send things out, for a reasonable cost. The problem will be they won’t be smart enough to blame this awful administration. They’ll somehow find a way to twist it so that it’s solely the fault of FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.
My point is that this will most likely disproportionately negatively affect people who are supporting the party doing this to them. And instead of being outraged about that they’ve bought into the talking point about how the USPS doesn’t turn a profit. And if that’s the kind of metric we’re going to judge government services on then we don’t need a military, or FEMA, or ICE, or social security, or farm subsidies, or tax breaks for corporations, or SNAP, or libraries.
Sometimes the services a government agency provides is worth more than just the dollar value. The USPS is definitely one of them.
If it wasn’t for people working for the collective good a lot of these same rural ares might still be without a power grid. Or at the very least it wouldn’t have happened as soon as it did. Since there wasn’t a similar push for internet a lot of these same people are are reliant on cellular or satellite providers to provide any sort of internet.
Don’t put people in charge of government agencies that provide a benefit to its people when that person has a conflict of interest and can make a profit if that government agency fails.
That’s a failing on my part from having to deal with that stereotype on a regular basis. Both in a familial setting and living in a purple state where you can go from a very liberal area to a very conservative area in about 20 minutes by car. Unfortunately witnessing this kind of blaming first hand has definitely colored my perception.
Kakistocracy: a system of government that is run by the worst, least qualified, and/or most unscrupulous citizens.

Rural does not automatically mean stupid. This is a very big country and many intelligent people choose not to be urban.
No, but they are awfully tribal about blaming people and things incorrectly.
As are some city dwellers; what was your point?

Now you see, that’s the considered opinion that I’ve come to expect from you. It was the initial blanket, idiot rural hick, approach that I balked at.

That is very understandable.
