Trump orders meat processing plants to stay open

President Donald Trump signed an executive order under the Defense Production Act to compel meat processing plants to remain open amid the coronavirus pandemic.

    No protection for the workers from the virus. Just protection for the bosses from liability if someone dies of the virus. Even a simple thing like this, he fucks up.

    People will just not show up to work is what I keep hearing. The plants open where I am are on 1 shift a day with reduced volumes voluntarily. One just closed for 10 days to clean up & isolate & treat the sick away from the workplace. It was responsible for the single worst workplace outbreak in my region. Almost 800 cases.

    Only problem with this is that no one ordered anything open or anyone to work; the DPA does not authorize the President to do anything close to this. The DPA merely ensures that government contracts are prioritized over commercial contracts. Anyone interested in the issue would know this. Anyone looking for a reason to yell “Orange Man Bad!” ignores these simple facts.
