Former military member (Army). Could not fathom why the “Acting” Secretary of the Navy would be such a petty person that he would badmouth a captain who cared enough about his troops to knowingly and effectively end his military career to get them taken care of. So pissed that I couldn’t figure out how to lodge a complaint anywhere (look at the petitions on the White House web pages – absolute gung-ho pro-Trump crap).
Effectively enough, Modley knew how reviled he would be by the rest of the Navy troops and resigned…
Leadership is not demanding respect, it is earning it. I just wish those at the top would respect that instead of reflecting the president’s modus operendi.
did you listen to the clip of his rant? he straight up sounded like he was having a manic episode or was high off his ass.
Dude flew out to mother fucking Guam to tell the crew of an air craft carrier that their beloved captain was a piece of shit, how the fuck did he think that was going to go over?
I loved the soundcloud link that featured someone saying “What the f%$#!” while that was playing over the ship’s PA. Modley’s “apology” said that he was attempting a motivational speech. Moron. Good riddance.
I’m not joking. The army, marines, Air Force and navy are full of toxic, kiss ass political officers who have no business being in uniform, let alone being in command. Their more worried about being spoken to with respect that earning it, and are full blown “did you assume my gender” and “I’m a ma’am” PC social justice warrior types.
They have no understanding that it takes rough men and women to hunt down and destroy the enemies of the United States. They think you can do it without messing up your perms, chipping your nails or Hurting feelings.
Sec Nav resigned (read fired). This headline is A. Old, or B deliberately misleading.
The President made some comments shortly afterwords I disagree with, however they were far more measured then what the former sec nav said, and he has since been shitcanned.
Honestly I believe the ship captain who was relieved should continue to be a desk jockey. Specifically I believe he should be made the sec. nav. If not chairman of the joint chiefs.
He knew damned well when he sent that email he would most likely be relieved, but he did it anyway because he felt it was the right thing to do.
His actions are exactly what leadership is, and bring great credit upon himself, the USS Theodore Roosevelt & the United States Navy.

He thought it would go over well man.

When I’m out I’ll have to tell you my experiences during my Poland deployment. I of course, am unable to speak truthfully now.
Looking forward to it. Just get out whole.
Let’s hope the former Captain isn’t commanding a desk for long.
