Never really understood the intended endgame of this. Movie studios are notoriously greedy, so they’d be demanding the full ticket price from Moviepass. How would Moviepass make up the lost revenue? Apparently, they hadn’t thought of that.
The state goal was to be able to sell the analytical data to ‘someone’ and make money that way. I personally believe they were also hoping to make deals with different theaters to get a cut ticket sales, but all the big theaters told them to pound sand, as they already had their own version of MoviePass in the works.
