Non-spoiler review:
A dumpster fire of a movie that’s barreling down a very steep hill, which sounds exciting, IS exciting, but man I do not like where it lands. it’s not going to have the same hate that The Last Jedi received, because there’s logical consistency and plenty of nostalgia that pays off just enough to make it enjoyable. After all, this is JJ joint.
If you’ve seen Avenger: Endgame, or Revenge of the Sith, or Return of the Jedi, you’ve seen this movie, but done better. For all his faults in story making, Lucas was able to deliver three prequels that never once made me wonder if they were in a universe with different physics or if my favorite heroes would run out of gas while on their way to their next adventure, or even wondering why the guys that are following them aren’t worried about the dozens of ships coming and going from the fleet their chasing very slowly through the cosmos.
Star Wars needs some heavy handed guidance, something akin to what the MCU has. Luckily word on the street has it that’s in the works.
