Are you actually trying to suggest that Hong Kong protestors are looking to America and its “Freedom”* to bear arms with some sort of envy?
There are many things to be envious about in America, but that is not one of them.
That said, if ever you get in that situation – you make a stand to defend your family against the state using your guns – please film it and put it on the internet. I want to see that moment. The look in your eyes as you realise your bombastic enthusiasm for your second amendment right, and your over exaggeration of your own abilities has very little bearing on the reality of pitting your little arsenal against a government. The dawning that your fox news/talk radio fuelled chest thumping internet posts were at the very best stupid, but at worst have been the worst mistake of your life. If it goes well for you and you don’t die quickly regurgitating Sean Hannity quotes with your family thinking “jeez dad, why were you such an arsehole”, all it will do will escalate until you are outgunned and very outmanned. Have you not heard of WACO? If there are dickheads with guns they determine a danger they will just up the ante until you are going down. When it all comes out, the MSM will just show how an arsehole with a 2nd amendment fetish fired on good working police, and his family suffered because of it.
This is where hong kong is. The government have tanked over people before. Its bad but they haven’t with hong kong yet. They know the world is looking at them. They are tinkering at the edges of being bastards and messing about with information/misinformation but they know they cannot get away with full on suppression – yet. Now imagine the moment those protesters raise guns. That’s not protest, that’s people with guns. At worst its civil war and all mechanics of state would come into play. Hong Kong don’t look to America for inspiration. They want democracy.
*this may surprise you – most of the rest of the world don’t quite see that as free as you seem to. You don’t care – I know this, but that’s the truth – It kinda make you look like you’re a rube.
Sorry about the busted title (“w”); I don’t think I’ll ever get accustomed to the confusing MCS image submission process.
I got a new system cookin, but it’ll limit posts to a particular number of images.
You say that like it’s a bad thing!
