I still think that this movie is among the best of the Star Wars movies that Disney has released, it’s a shame that they’ve decided to slow down movie production due to the response to both Solo and The Last Jedi. The stench of Episode 8 is killing our hopes for a continuation of that amazing third act reveal, something that I think could have pushed the Star Wars movies further than they’ve gone in the past. Guess we’re going to just end up with more “safe” movies that are essentially remakes of the original trilogy.
The 4k/HDR and special features on the disk were great, especially the deleted scenes. I’m shocked that there’s no behind the scenes content with the original directors (Phil Lord and Chris Miller), but this is likely due to Disney not wanting to muddy the waters too much and confuse the casual fans.
I’m glad for the slowdown. There’s a REASON that I haven’t kept up with the MCU: it’s TOO DAMN MUCH. Two new movies per year, on top of my existing media consumption? And I’m supposed to keep track of like thirty plotlines? Fukdatnoize. Star Wars does not need to be the MCU. The MCU is no longer special, because we’re drowning in it. Star Wars does not need more than three films per decade.
Also, Kylo Ren is most of the people complaining about the new movies: a whiny, old-school-obsessed emo diaperbag… prone to irrational rages and surrounded by people who give him far more of a voice than he ever merited. You know exactly the type of “fan” I speak of.
