Rebel Galaxy is a swashbuckling space adventure, with action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and “negotiation” with the outlandish denizens at the edge of the known universe.
Released nearly 3 years ago to the day that I started playing it, I swear it was a coincidence, or at least I didn’t know why I picked it up. I seent it on humble bundle or chrono.gg for obscenely cheap, thought maybe I would try it out, but maybe I should check my Steam library before I spent $3 on it.
Low and behold, I’ve owned this since April 2017, it’s nice to get a game out of my unplayed queue after only a year and a half. I really wish I had started this back when I first bought it, I have some complaints about how shallow the gameplay is, but I honestly think that even that shallow game play is a positive with my current game playing style. All of the missions are resolvable within 20-30 minutes, the game automatically saves your progress when you quit out, and you can completely pause the game when you’re doing laundry.
The soundtrack is great the first 200 times I heard the twangy battle music, but after that….well I can see why they included a custom music direction option, so you can insert your own music into the game. Due to a severe case of apathetic laziness I did not partake in this feature, but if it annoys you, there it is.
