Most Confederate statues were put up during the Civil Rights Struggle by the sore loser brigade Daughters of the Confederacy. They were put up to intimidate blacks, not to honor traitors.

Idiots and neo-confederates (but I repeat myself) often make the bullshit claim that tearing down these statues “erases history.” If that were true, the tearing down of King George III statues after the Declaration of Independence would’ve resulted in us not knowing who won the Revolutionary War. This claim is used because they know their REAL reason for wanting them to stay up isn’t socially acceptable (but, during the era of Trump, they may think that it is… the racists are coming out from under their rocks).
