“Submachinegun Grannie” That’s an German MP-38 (incorrectly known as a Schmeiser, who was the manufacturer of the magazines). The definition of an assault rifle is a select fire weapon Safe (no shoot)Semi (one bullet fired per trigger pull)and Full Auto (the weapon continues to fire until the trigger is release or the magazine is empty)and an intermediate cartridge (in between a pistol sized cartridge and a “full sized” rifle). Just FYI for anyone that cares. I’m wondering if that is in Eastern Europe and she’s reliving her partisan past. Very interesting
the fact that barrel length and not cartridge size defines whether or not the same gun is a pistol or a rifle in this country kind of shows you how fucked “definitions” of guns here has become.that being said there are no “assault rifles” since it was always a made up term to begin with
I see your confusion. Barrel length has to do with the difference between a carbine and a full length rifle, example is the M-16 rifle (Assault Rifle) and the M-4 Carbine (also an Assault rifle as they fire a intermediate cartridge – 5.56mm/.223cal-some difference between them but arguably compatible, removable magazine, select fire, etc.) The difference between a SMG (Submachine Gun) and a Assault Rifle or Main Battle Rifle is again the type of cartridge that uses, I.E., pistol, intermediate and rifle. This fine lady is holding a MP 40 (Maschinenpistole 40)that fires 9mm Lugar (9x19mm. The same as the Glock 17/18/19). Again, the difference between a rifle and a carbine is the barrel length I.E. a G98 Gewehr 98 and the K98 Karabiner 98K.
NOT in the US its not. you can have a rifle with a 16 inch barrel and shooting the same cartridge from the same gun but with a 10 inch barrel is considered a pistol. welcome to america. if your still confused then the ATF is to blame with the arbitrary rules they impose. in order to be a rifle the barrel has to be over 16 inches, under 16 and it’s now an SBR(short barreled rifle)requiring a tax stamp to legally own. but the same gun without a stock is now called a pistol and no longer requires the tax stamp to own.

interesting definition that you just made up, but I like it. maybe you can spread it around.
I think you’re confusing definition made up by PTB’s, with one used by “everyone” else.
I think you’re confusing initializims
I think not:

I’ve seen a few “AR Pistols” at gunshows that take .223 but are classified as a pistol.
they’re stupid looking and honestly I have no idea what the point of them is.
maneuverability , the short barrel makes it easier getting in and out of vehicles and working your way through buildings.
