I suspect the name choice is intentional. The suggestion being that when giving the child a name the parents assumed the use of a primarily male name would be appropriate given the anatomy data they had to work with, which is no longer accurate to the child they have, so the name seems a little bit unusual.
This was fine until they named the girl “Jeremy”, now its just dumb.
