I thought that ENT was bad. After this shit, ENT is a masterpiece in comparison.
I’m actually reeeally enjoying it so far.
I think that it is pretty interesting SciFi; but The Orville is MUCH more aligned to Star Trek.
it’s much more aligned to The Next Generation, yes I agree.
Discovery feels like a true modern follow up to the original series though.
Star Trek was never about dark and edgy. It was about hope, most of the time. DS9 had its dark moments by never diverged much from the Trek feel.
This series is bad mostly because it’s sold as being before TOS. With so many glaring continuity errors it might have been better to say its from the mirror universe and way after TNG.
Honestly, other than visual elements for special effects and maybe (?) the uniforms, I haven’t seen a single continuity error in Discovery yet.
When you say “dark and edgy” what are you referring to? I don’t see much of that in Disco, Burnham is the epitomy of hope and optimism! Even the first curse word in a Star Trek tv series was “this is fucking awesome” in regards to some goofy science shit they were doing.
not a single continuity error? How about TELEPORTING STARSHIPS? How about live holographic communication that wasn’t even tested until Sisko’s Defiant in the 24th century? Profanity? It’s 10 years before TOS but there’s no mention of Spock from Burnham or Sarak. Pilot episode, the Klingon beacon that glows so super duper bright that everyone in the galaxy sees a new star all at once and comes to check it out, but oh, light-speed, whatever. It’s a fine show, call it a reboot, but fuck the assholes that dare to call it Prime timeline right in their face.
I think it’s pretty ballsy for you to say you know how the series is going to end. They’re in a alternate dimension ffs.
Teleporting Starships were in the original series.
Live holographic communication was in use all over the universe, we just didn’t see it.
Profanity is not a continuity error.
They’ve mentioned Spock like ten times so far across multiple episodes.
The beacon was a SUBSPACE BEACON, they even said so during that episode!
It’s obvious you’re coming at it from a place of anger, but damn, have some internal consistency.
