Related story, I recently tried out IRL D&D and learned a fair bit of the gaming system in the few months that I was actively playing with friends. Avernum 2: Crystal Souls uses many of the same core concepts and is a pretty good d20 style RPG. I’m burnt out on the fantasy setting and am looking for something more spacebased though, so this one is going to back onto the shelf for later play through, which may never happen, but if you’re looking for a decent D&D style game, this would be a good one to look into.
