I was happy to see that Bond was able to find more bulletproof construction equipment in the opening scene of Skyfall, I was worried that this movie was going to be too realistic for my tastes. I joke, but it’s weird to see a series that’s trying its very hardest to be modern and realistic and then have bullets bouncing off of crane windows or back plating. There’ a tired revenge plot afoot, a previously burned agent has returned to seek vengeance on M. M of course is played by Dame Judi Dench, likely the only shining light in the Daniel Craig movies, so it was a mystification of mysteries as to why they did what they did with her character.
There’s a point where the bad guy is toying with Bond and asks “is there any…ANY of the old 007 left?”
I found myself asking this as well for the three movies that I’ve seen with Craig in the Bond role. He seemed much more at easy with himself in the last third of the movie, nearly making me believe he was actually Bond. It helped that they finally introduced mainstays of the franchise like a suped up car, the Q-branch and Moneypenny.
