The DCU gets another entry in it’s pale facsimile of the MCU, while doing better than any of the other DCU movies (man of steel, batman v superman, suicide squad), still misses the mark in some significant ways. The movie was fantastic in it’s first act, but the moment that the story started to get going it became to get bogged down by the same ill tempered and bland color palate that the other films found themselves in. The third act has a number of narrative problems, most of which have more to do with this being a comic book movie than anything else.
It’s better than what’s come before, and for that I’m grateful, the world’s better with better movies in it. Gal Gadot made huge strides in making me believe she could handle the role, and apparently the film has already broken $100 Million for it’s opening weekend. I’m hoping that November’s Justice League will have the same incremental increase in quality, maybe by the time they get around to making the Flash movie, they’ll be able to make something of the same caliber as Iron Man.
Post Script: my wife loved the film and couldn’t stop saying as much, I’d be interested in seeing how the female critics review the film. Anyone have any good ones to check in on? The last film reviewer that I seriously followed was Roger Ebert.
