From what little I’ve seen, it’s crap. The exact kind of thing a repressed, middle class man over 50 would love. Tim Allen’s character is the owner/manager of a Bass Pro Shop-type store & is repeatedly being forced to deal with modern things which he considers “unmanly”. There are definite undertones of racism, homophobia, ultra-conservatism, etc. I guess to sum up: my half-wit, Fox News-watching, hiding-behind-a-false-mask-of-judgmental-Christianity parents watch it and think it’s hilarious.
Much like other famous Tim Allen shows this is a parody. The conservative perspective of the main character is obviously done in a tongue in cheek style, if you have the taste for a little bit of witty banter and or an interest in quick laughs it is an excellent show. It does get a little repetitive after the first three seasons so don’t plan to binge watch the whole thing.
