Tim Burton finally does a movie without Helena Bonham Carter or Johnny Depp and it turned out pretty well. Make no mistake, this is still very much a Tim Burton film, but it’s much more mature and open to general audiences than his last few movies have been. This wasn’t the movie I was expecting it to be, but that turned out to be a blessing, rather than a curse.

I thought it was kind of uneven.
And the main characters weren’t really developed enough to get invested in.
Not a bad movie, but not worth a second look.
