Well written movie that never falls into silly comic book tropes (looking at you The Wolverine), it’s a perfect sendoff letter to both Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman, both of whom have said they’re done with their mutant comic book roles. I I certainly look forward to seeing more from Dafne Keen, she was pitch perfect as X-23, but her future in the Fox/Marvel movies is unsure to me considering the movie was set in the near future, and not the time frame of any of the other x-men movies, including Deadpool.
To add some gravity to how the movie ended, this was the first comic movie in nearly 20 years that didn’t have a movie stinger of some kind. When it was done, it was done with nothing left to say.
Now that Jackman and Stewart are done with Fox/Marvel movies, maybe they can come over to the proper MCU? What roles would you give them?
I figured this movie would be either great, or horrible. Good to know it’s worth checking out.
Isn’t Cable a time traveler? If so, that could be used as a method to pull X-23 into a modern timeline. Though I could see what a mess that could cause. And even with Jackman ending his major role in Marvel films, any bets on a cameo in Deadpool 2?
I doubt there will be a cameo from Hugh, he seemed pretty done with the character and at this point he’s getting pretty old for the role. Maybe they can do a CGI cameo?
and great point about Cable, I completely forgot he was from from the gritty future of a world gone mad.
I keep hearing that this is based on Miller’s “Old Man Logan.”
God I hope not.
That was the stupidest comic I’ve read in years.
you’ll be happy to hear that aside from him being old and called “Logan”, that’s probably as close to the OML comic as it will get.
