Eddie Redmayne has no charisma and I really did not like him in the role of Newt Scamander. In spite of the lead role being played by an adult man that acts like an eight year old with emotional issues, the film was enjoyable enough to watch. It had way too much CGI in the most obvious and awkward places, but in spite of that, still enjoyable. The plot was simple and not very interesting, but in spite of that…how did I end up enjoying watching this? The soundtrack wasn’t even that great (done by the same guy that did the music for Space Jam among others). It was even set in a time period that I personally find to be boring and over done.
I still enjoyed it. Not sure how it all came together in such a way, but at the end of the day it left a good impression.
The answer is that the ‘Wizarding world’ is far more interesting of a place than any of the books or movies set in it have yet shown us and even the small and sadly simplistic glimpses into it we have access to are well worth watching.
