Fighting for your country when called up is patriotic and heroic. And part of being a citizen.
Being a conscientious objector…or standing up to protest an injust war based on personal ethics is patriotic and heroic as well.

No sense of duty if you believe the war is just. And no sense of right v wrong if you believe the war is unjust.
