Young Andy Barclay gets the doll he wanted. However, he did not know it was alive!
I’m sure everyone’s experienced this, but there are some films that I’ve never seen because they would have been too intense for me at the time of their release or they just seemed uninteresting. I would have been 8 years old when this one came out and I’m sure my parents would have never had let me see it due to the horror aspect, and I’ve continued to feel that the movie would be just too much for me.
I decided to watch though, and it turns out this is just a reeeally campy movie that feels more like a ‘made for television’ story with limited special effects and some down right terrible acting. Seen it? Did you watch it as a child or as an adult?
Daughter, 6: “Dad, I can’t sleep. My doll is looking at me.”
Me: [about to say something about it’s just her imagination…]
Wife: “OH, like CHUCKY.” [makes stabbing motion]
Me: [laser eyes at wife, transmitting STFU on all channels]
true story.
Saw this about a year after it came out, so when I was 9. Creeped me out at the time. Like, I was afraid of dolls for awhile creeped out. As an adult it’s a pretty bad movie. The sequels just make it worse. Fun to get drunk and watch with friends though.
