Minorities (especially African-Americans and Latins) frequently cannot afford a private lawyer. Public defenders are few and far between, as a lawyer can’t make the big bucks doing that. So the defendant goes into the courtroom with no counsel and no idea how to defend themselves. Combine that with a private prison system known for giving judges kickbacks, and you have many minorities given prison for crimes that normally just rate probation.

So … not a cultural predisposition to criminality?
Who-ever said that wasn’t part of the equation Skandy?
This isn’t a simple problem with simple answers.
There are a multitiude of factors…including poverty, education, gun culture, systemic racism…and yes…an African American culture that is broken and marginalized (and has never recovered from slavery).
They should work to change that
Kind of more a “we” thing rather than a “they” thing, doncha think?

The solution isn’t going to be an easy one.
