Yeah, what is happening is YouTube decided to state demonetizing videos they don’t like. And the guide lines are so broad that they can chose to ban anything they want. They are a private company so it is their right, but they have been selectively censoring some YouTubers and not others. Many of the videos that are being censored are small news channels, while YouTube doesn’t touch the actual news channels on Youtube like CNN.
With this new move they are trying to force out what has made YouTube grow so much in the past years and make it all Toy reviews and unboxing videos. That’s fine we just need another video service that can be a real competitor to YouTube so they can feel what it is like when content creators leave and they backpedal liek they always do.
This all comes on the heels of all the problems with WTFU (Where’s The Fair Use) which has been happening with YouTube as well. In general like all companies that have grown large and popular YouTube is going through a bit of a phase of being a controlling asshole.
Something tells me I can live without the kind of “news” they’re “censoring”. I wish someone would censor half of the Far Left and Far Right garbage that’s all over the internet as it is, the World would be a better place.
While porn is legally free speech it’s a false equivalency because we are talking about socially acceptability of subject matter. Talking about a violent video game, news, or some other trivial subject is not directly proportional to double penetration of a publicly acceptable web site, not dedicated to porn, like YouTube.
Well seeing you have no idea what is being demonetized you don’t have the knowledge to make that determination. You are partially right. Those kinds of channels did get hit but others like boogie2988, I Hate Everything, and other reviewers have been affected too. Apathy doesn’t help.
But if I’m reading this correctly they can still publish anything they want, YouTube just isn’t going to pay them for it? There is no Right to be paid for videos you make, and if they’re still allowing them to be posted where’s the censorship?
Because these people have been doing this as a job now for years. This is what they do. It’s like your boss saying you can still come to work if you like and you aren’t fired, but you wont be getting paid.
Same goes here. They are free to keep making videos, which Youtube will continue to put adds one anyway, but they wont see a dime from making content for YouTube. If this is their job, and they are no longer getting payed for it, they will have to stop making videos. It’s censorship through monetary strong arming. YouTube is a private company and it is their right to do so, but it is a very shitty thing to do and it does not make it not censorship in a backhanded way.
Youtube wants more kid friendly content on the sight and this is how they have chosen to force people out, through their wallets.
Yeah, so I’ve been seeing this kind of images in the net.
Could someone elaborate ?
some shitty with ads

If YouTube wasn’t censored it would be YouPorn by now.
TLDR: It’s always been censored.
That is a a false equivalency fallacy. “They censor porn, so selectively censoring opinions is the same.” Uhhh no.
Something tells me I can live without the kind of “news” they’re “censoring”. I wish someone would censor half of the Far Left and Far Right garbage that’s all over the internet as it is, the World would be a better place.
And how is it a false equivalency? Porn isn’t speech anymore?
Censorship is Censorship and all web companies do it, as is their right.

It’s not their “job”….it’s their business.
That’s the risk of running a business…that the rules or regulations change making your business model obsolete.
Happens every day.
And the risk of monopolies.
