I like the concept and the cast is great, it’s just a shame that a woman, or women, couldn’t have created this instead of Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover guys). I’m not saying that men can’t write from a woman’s perspective, it’s just that the movie industry desperately needs more of a female voice. Things have improved, sure, but there’s still a long way to go. Studios may be even more wary of female writers and female casts after the Ghostbusters debacle. Katie Dippold was co-writer on that and this material seems right up her street. Kristen Wiig “coulda been a contender” too. Still, it looks fun but deals with something quite important, the self imposed need for women to be ‘perfect’ in their roles as mothers. It’s probable that The Hangover guys have observed that struggle in their own wives/partners and fair enough that they want to comment on it.
