As a Libertarian, I could give a rats ass what someone else does to their body, or how they choose to identify their gender. The problem with these laws saying that a man can claim to be identifying as a woman can then go into the ladies room and cause mischief. It’s not transgendered people who we have a problem with; it’s people who choose to take advantage of a loop hole in the law to possibly take advantage of venerable women and small children.
If these sicko’s didn’t exist, there would be 0 uproar about this. The reality is, like the post points out, is that transgendered people have already been using the restroom of their choice, so the legislation, while had good intent, was not needed, and has created a dangerous situation in the process. We just want the loop hole closed. As a father, how easy is it going to be for me to have to now escort my 7 year old daughter into ladies rooms now just to make sure there is not a predator inside, or waiting to follow her in?
You want to protect the rights of transgender people? I’m in. When the attempt to protect the 1% (guessing at that percent, but let’s be honest, it is a very low percent) at the danger of the 99% does not make sense.
Setting aside the odd notion of protecting “venerable” children, tell me something… You seem keen on pulling a mathematical estimate or two out of your ass. Why not give us your take on the following:
What would you say is the percentage chance of a same-sex attack on kids in a public washroom? Ever feel the need to carefully escort male children to the bathroom just to be sure? UH huh. Interesting.
Now what would you say the chance of a transgendered person attacking someone in a washroom? Uh huh. I see.
I see. And what would you say the chances of violence against a trans woman person forced to use the men’s room are? Go ahead. Tell me with a straight face it’s lower.
Because the lack of a dress is what prevented someone from going into a bathroom with no outer lock in order to attack a kid who is likely there with an adult, whose screams would be heard by anyone even remotely close, risking someone waltzing in at any point to interrupt.
Despite the rate of kids being attacked by strangers being practically nonexistent. If your kid is gonna get attacked, it’s gonna be someone she knows and trusts. It’s how molestors work. So these transgender loophole bathroom attacks HAVE NEVER HAPPENED.
So, these Bathroom Sickos. They actually DON’T exist. This was NEVER about protecting women and children from attackers (otherwise, convicted sex offenders would be on the list of people banned from public bathrooms, although public urination in an alley because the bars are all closed is a way to get on the list and denying that fella a bathroom is how he got on that list in the first place). This was ALWAYS about attacking the transgendered. To claim otherwise is to lie to other people or to lie to yourself.
This law now means that trans women have to go into the men’s bathroom, where they will be attacked and raped. That’s what this bill does. That’s what your fake-ass loophole closing does. It INCREASES women being attacked in bathrooms. And men (NOT wearing dresses) are following women (not trans women, but your average cisgender woman who is perfectly happy identifying as a woman) into the women’s room, demanding “proof” of femininity (you know where Google is). So now, some asshole is gonna follow your daughter into the bathroom if he thinks her hair is too short and she might be a boy in disguise. He will demand proof that she is a natural female. So which side are the sickos on? YOURS.
And let’s not forget the trans men. Dudes with full beards who happened to be born with vaginas. You seriously want them in the women’s room?
How fucking DARE you use a Spock quote to support a position Spock would have found odious. It’s hard to piss a Vulcan off, but your position would cause Spock to slap you with the fury of a thousand suns.
