The number of work hours lost because of being unable to work on something because the ISP is down, or a switch/router/etc. somewhere along the way is down and we had to move everything to “the cloud” because “it’s better” without anyone quantifying why have cost us thousands of dollars in lost productivity every year. Certainly more than if we had bought our own storage hardware. And instead of bringing all that stuff back in house where it lived for 20 years and was fine, we’re switching to a different cloud. As if somehow our ISP failing will let us access this other cloud. Fucking stupid.
