“Take your jacket off and get into it.” And repeat. Classic ear worm stuff. Sadly, I have a horrible feeling it won’t chart due to ageism. Danny Goffey is only 41 (Supergrass having taken off when they were barely out of their teens) but he’s OVER FORTY and therefore, in the world of popular music, a little, old man.
I think Tushi was referring to the picture above. Imo it was a very smart move to put his son in the video. He’s worked in the music business for decades. He knows how it works and when people think you should be put out to pasture. I think his solution is witty and and clever. In the UK signers for the deaf are put in the right lower corner of tv shows. He’s ‘borrowed’ this idea and appears himself doing an energetic, little dance for ‘the hard of understanding that you can still be relevant after the age of thirty.’
Danny can now join the hallowed ranks of popular musicians who’ve created songs about the struggle of sperm to reach the ovum. Sparks being the other lot.
I don’t know what it is about this subject, but it seems to inspire insanely catchy tunes.
Saw them do this live and half way through the song the sober-faced Ron got up off his stool and danced like a proper dancer. Quite the jaw dropping moment, like who knew his legs actually worked?
At 2.35, Ron does his dance! Sparks were once described as ‘the best British band to ever have come out of America’, and most of their success seems to have come outside of their country of origin. It’s no surprise that they’re quite comfortable collaborating with the French (Les Rita Mitsouko), The Scots (Franz Ferdinand), and now a Canadian, Guy Madden.
Great spot. This is exact dance he did live. Saw Les Rita Mitsouko one month before Fred passed away. Needless to say he was not there but Catherine and her crew were world class.
Heavily influenced by Ian Dury and The Blockheads…You’re not kidding. The tune is stuck in my head now. Good stuff.

But he only looks but a pup.
That’s because the video has his son lip-syncing the song.
(Take that, ageism!)

I know! I’ve seen him do it too!

Look! : )
And his synth’s called ‘Ronald’! This is the exact same tour I saw, right down to Russell’s strange, short trousers. They were incredible!
