I’ve experienced sleep paralysis and had minor hallucinations. Nothing as extreme as featured in this film, but very, very odd. I saw my boyfriend go into the bathroom dressed in a monk’s cowl. I thought, ‘Why is my boyfriend wearing a monk’s cowl to go to to the toilet?’ A reasonable question under the circumstances I think. I was convinced I was awake. I cannot claim to have experienced anything to this degree, but at least twice, once in my twenties and once in my thirties, I awoke from a dead sleep, eyes wide open, unable to move any part of my body, no matter how hard I tried, not even able to speak, and there was a dark figure standing in the doorway the first time, and standing in the corner the second time, completely in shadow, just watching me. Not moving. Not one single bit, just watching. Both times it lasted about 3 to 5 minutes, until slowly I was able to move, blink my eyes, and the figure was gone. I am not bullshitting, and it was absolutely terrifying. Swear on my Mother’s grave.
