I put one in a custom rig this past weekend. A 120gb Sandisk was like $45, so why not? The Win10 installation was done in less than 5 minutes, I was seriously impressed. Even less time with Office 2016. I would say after your BIOS screen, you could count to 10 until Windows is loaded and ready to go.
27.8k hours spinning, dual OS (was triple), with one partition untouched since ages, some merged into one, and from POST to OS around 10 seconds, maybe even less, so I’m far from impressed.
I’ve never owned a computer with one of these on it, do they truly make things that much faster?

They’re that much quieter.
As for faster, that depends what you buy.
