In no particular order. Sam Fuller and the ‘White Dog’. William Powell and Asta. Jacques Tati dogs (he adored them and they feature in nearly all his films) and Hagen from White God winning the Palm Dog at Cannes (as did all his other canine chums).
Saw White God recently, and although it’s a little too much like Rise Of The Planet Of Apes with dogs, it’s a logistical film-making miracle and the ending is an absolute killer.
