This scene is basically about an ageing Nigel Kneale getting his knickers in a twist over Hot Gossip, which seemed to represent The End Of Western Civilisation As We Know It to him. Since he predicted reality tv with The Year Of The Sex Olympics, you’d think he’d be a bit calmer and philosophical about these things, but no. He’d become ‘an angry old man’ at this stage. And there’s nothing wrong with that really.
